Lee Hyori (Korean: 이효리) (born May 10, 1979) is a South Korean R&B & hip-hop singer and actress. She started off as part of the successful K-pop girl group Fin.K.L, but has since become a solo artist. Her first album was very successful, winning many “Daesangs” (a Korean award equivalent to “Artist of the Year”) for that album. She has since become the highest-paid female singer in South Korea.

If anyone deserves to have their own adjective, it’s probably Lee Hyo Ri. Lee, who emerged as a Korean pop icon since turning solo in 2003, introduces “hyorish” to our urban dictionary through the release of her new album It’s Hyorish. Bringing the cute-sexy concept back to the stage, Lee teams up with some of the best talents in the business, namely producers Park Geun Tae and Kim Do Hyun, along with music video director Cha Eun Tek, to present what is expected to be one of the best-selling albums of 2008. A staggering 60,000 preorder copies were sold with ten days left before the official release, proving once again the massive appeal she brings to Korean pop culture.
Composed by rising songwriter E-Tribe, the hip-hop dance number U-Go-Girl (Track 3) is one of the double principal tracks featured on the album. Highlighted by Lee’s unique resonating voice, the song is dedicated to her female fans and features lyrics that loosely translate to “don’t be shy, show yourself boldly”. Lee’s song “Toc Toc Toc” (Track 1) is already a huge online hit, and now it’s being released as a single. Lee Hyori Vol.2 – Dark Angel

Dark Angel is the second album by Lee Hyori, featuring singles “Get Ya!”, “Shall We Dance”, and “Straight Up”. It is notable for the plagiarism controversy regarding her first single, “Get Ya!”, which was accused of copying Britney Spears’ single “Do Somethin’”. Although a followup single was quickly prepared, sales were lower than expected, and promotional activities were stopped.
Her first single from her album “Get Ya” was accused of plagiarizing Britney Spears’s “Do Somethin’,” as proposed by the composer of the American pop star’s hit. After the news started to spread, Lee and her record company announced that promotion of the single would be quickly halted, and that she would have a short break from activities in order to promote her followup single “Shall We Dance?”. This was the last single of the album to be promoted by Lee, although “Straight Up” was released as the last single from the album.

Stylish is the first solo album of Lee Hyori, a member of Korean girl group Fin.K.L. The album sold well in Korea, winning several awards and catapulting Lee to superstar status; papers even dubbed her popularity the “Hyolee Syndrome.”
The first single was “10 Minutes.” Rumor had it that the song was about sleeping with a guy within 10 minutes, but Lee stated that it was simply about knowing the other person in 10 minutes. The song was an instant hit.
“Hey Girl” was the follow up single. The video was banned on some networks due to its sexual imagery, although Lee said that it was the same as her first video and therefore she did not see why this had to be banned. The single was not performed as frequently as her first, and promotions for the album were completed soon after. The third single was “Remember Me.”
