LeAnn Rimes (born August 28, 1982) is an American country musician. She is known for her rich vocals and her rise to fame at the age of 14—becoming the youngest country music star since Tanya Tucker in 1972.

Rimes made her breakthrough into country music in 1996. Her debut album, Blue, reached Number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified “multi-platinum” in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album’s lead single of the same name (originally intended to be recorded by Patsy Cline in the early 1960s) became a Top 10 hit. With immediate success, Rimes attained widespread national acclaim for her similarities to Cline’s vocal style. When Rimes released her sophomore studio effort in 1997, You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs, Rimes went more towards country pop material, which would set the trend for a string of albums that would be released into the next decade.

Since her debut, Rimes has won many major industry awards, which include two Grammys, three ACMs, one CMA, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and one American Music award. In addition, Rimes has also released ten studio albums and four compilation albums through her record label of 13 years, Asylum-Curb, and placed over 40 singles on American and international charts since 1996. She has sold over 37 million records worldwide, with 20.3 million album sales in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan.

LeAnn Rimes – God Bless America (2001) (APE)

September 30, 2011 Music World: US-UK-EU, Tags:   Read More

LeAnn Rimes – God Bless America
Label: Curb Records
Release Date: October 16, 2001
Language: English

God Bless America is a 2001 album by LeAnn Rimes. The album comprises patriotic and inspirational songs that were originally recorded near the beginning of LeAnn’s career.

With all the American flag imagery on the packaging, it’s a good bet that this post-September 11, 2001, compilation benefited the disaster recovery — even though no such promise is made on the insert. It does say, “These classic recordings were made while America was first discovering LeAnn Rimes.” The obvious intention was to gather some of Rimes’ inspirational and love songs that would uplift and encourage during the national crisis, and also make a nice little stocking stuffer that fits the patriotic mood. It’s a nice cross section of American classics (her version of “God Bless America” is a showstopper), Christian-themed gems (“The Sands of Time,” “Middle Man”), and even a soft-spoken country-pop version of “The Lord’s Prayer.” “Put a Little Holiday in Your Heart” is the one tune that actually goes beyond the heartfelt and into the truly fun. Her a capella version of “Amazing Grace” is also an impressive showcase for her well-known vocal chops.

Tracklist:
01 God Bless America
02 National Anthem
03 The Lord’s Prayer
04 The Sands Of Time
05 Why Can’t We
06 Put A Little Holiday In Your Heart
07 Middle Man
08 I Believe
09 A Broken Wing
10 Amazing Grace
